Well done that man! The 130EQ focuser illustrated doesn't get any better than that. I suspect the missing item is the one in the bottom red square. If the thread on the focuser tube is a male T2 then its an easy fix but from memory I think the thread is coarser than that and may be a different size altogether. When I had mine, I contemplated changing the focuser but on the Celestron, with its cosmetic plastic trim, its not quite that simple. Not an impossible job but I decided not to bother and upgraded to another 'scope. In terms of spare parts Astroboot are useful but at the moment are closed for refurbishment. A bit of a long shot but a wanted ad' on this forum might come up with something. good luck.

Thanks very much for the reply my man.

From your description, I assume you're needing that outlined in red, but do you have that outlined in green which secures the draw-tube within the focusser's housing?

The upper, chromed part on the left is the draw-tube.  The lower black part is the visual-back which screws onto the draw-tube and holds the eyepieces.  The small parts on the right keeps the draw-tube from falling out whilst racking it in and out.

Perfect thank you. But I cannot find anywhere to purchase these in the UK. :(

The 130EQ is 1.25" (only) focuser. Casting my mind back to when I had a 130EQ I think the part you might be referring to the eyepiece holder that screws onto the focuser tube. If that is so all you will have at the moment is the end male threaded section. Is that so?

Yep, you are correct sir. I think it's called the 'focuser drawtube'? Its the metal part that has a cog track on it. Thats all I need. I still can't see anywhere I can buy one from. Surely Celestron sell them?

  4. "The Skyliner 200’s flat-packed base is very easy to build and set up, and comes with excellent instructions….The optics were sharp across 80% of the 1 degree field of view….We were very pleased with the appearance of al the test objects – we even managed to find the Crab Nebula, M81 and M82 in near-full Moonlight, whereas the other scopes were struggling. Under darker skies the Double Cluster had that ‘Wow’ factor when it was centred using the 25mm eyepiece, as did M35. The Pleiades (M45) was just a bit too large to fit in the field of view, but the main central stars looked stunning….Turning to Saturn, the view really took our breath away: we saw five moons, a clear-cut Cassini Division and a colour difference between the A and B rings. Not only that, but Saturn also displayed a prominent belt – with this scope planetary detail is certainly not compromised….Fans of deep-sky observing would certainly find the Skyliner satisfying….The Skyliner was a joy to use.” BBC SKY AT NIGHT MAGAZINE

Above is the quote on FLO. and this is just the 200!

Iv'e seen the views from todd's 12" dob, it's breathtaking.

  5. What will the size if planets look like through the scope? I mean in my current scope Jupiter looks like a small pea, with 4 bits of dandruff floating around it lol.

    I need to upgrade also.

I'm also thinking of the Skywatcher 250.

When my scope arrived I was amazed initially, but I have only just started.

I then got some better EP's, and the difference was greatly improved.

My scope is entry level, but with a 2x barlow and 17mm plossl EP, Jupiter and moons are visible and in focus, but I know what you mean, once you see planets and DSO's with your own eyes you just want to see them bigger and brighter!

Saturn was great to see, but it was tiny! And could only just make out the rings.:(

  6. Thanks for the quick reply Russ.

There are these two on ebay.

    10mm & 25mm eyepieces on eBay (end time 20-Jan-11 21:58:10 GMT)

Hope it's okay to post links here?

Anyway, from what you have said, I think you have saved me at the very least, £22.50.

If anyone wants to sell (to a very eager, if stupid, new Astonomer, i.e me! ) any EP's for a good price, please PM me. Thanks!

  7. Have seen a couple of S/H EP's for sale, apparently they came with a new skywatcher dob scope.

    Are these lenses any good?

I presume they are better than the ones I have, marked H and SR.

Any rough guesses on how much these are worth?

Text on EPS is 'super 10mm' and 'super 25mm' .

    Thanks.

Edit. my question is related to the one posted by Patbloke.

Will the unbranded 10mm and 25mm be better?
