I sympathise with you Rog. I've only been keenly into astronomy for the last 10 years. Each year from when I started the nights' have deteriorated. I used to love being out on a crisp winter's evening with a clear sky.
In many ways it's just as frustrating for me out in New Zealand. I have decent skies but I can't bring my equipment with me from the UK. I also can't borrow a motorised EQ mount to use with my travel scope and the DSLR. So in March it's back to 'Blighty' for me. Back to decent equipment but no skies!
