  1. I'm wondering if maybe introducing a router takes care of IP addresses or something like that? I've got one I can try with anyway which actually runs off 5V so I can power via the USB port on my battery. These are the photos they sent me for reference...as I've said, impressive tailored response!
  2. Despite the manual saying I connect the ASIair and Starbook Ten directly with a cable, ZWO themselves emailed back saying you have to connect them via a router. Hmmmm Great support btw...a tailored reply with photos too...very impressive.
  3. You star - thank you!! I'll get one, to be on the safe side!
  4. Maybe I've found the answer! Anyone hazard a guess whether that's a straight through or a crossover cable?
  5. No USB ports so I'm thinking it goes into the ST-4 socket on the handset (which also has a LAN port). I'm in no way wanting to remove the handset from the setup as the Starbook Ten is just fab. If I have to, that's a different matter, but the whole aim of this is to enable me to get longer exposures than I can currently achieve...which is a pretty healthy 2 mins unguided as it is.
  6. My father once "congratulated" me on becoming the first person in the family to be offered a place at a Polytechnic; that's how bright I am. I am looking forward to receiving my ASIair Pro/guide scope/guide camera bundle tomorrow. I want to use this to add autoguiding to my SXD2 mount without the need for a laptop; I'm fine having my iPad or phone outside with me though. I know for the polar alignment I'll have to set the guidescope to the main camera as, for now, I'll be sticking with my unsupported Fuji XT3 for the actual photography but will I "simply" need to connect the ASIair Pro to my Starbook Ten handset with an ethernet cable in order for the magic to happen or...I haven't really got a clue! Any help gratefully received.
  7. I think it does? It's a gorgeous mount (SXD2) and the only fault I can find with Starbook Ten so far is it's too close to my rubbish eyes.
  8. Mine is fantastic. It's much more stable, lighter and smaller than my Porta II and it's held my Mewlon 180 rock-solid while that scope was waiting for its new mount. It now holds my dinky little 130PDS and the only problem is the size of the tube restricts movement very low or towards the zenith, but other than that it's a perfect match and vibrations damp down in less than 1 second. Highly recommended! PS - my slow-mo controls keep slipping off too so I might cut a notch to allow the cables' screw to grip into.
  9. Well I don't know about any of you but I certainly try and charge as much as I can for my services!
  10. I'll need the oxygen to help get to grips with the Star Book Ten...what a nice way to control a mount!
  11. My bottom lip has disappeared - it should be with me today!
  12. Except I don't think my mount has been stuck in customs at any point! My bottom lip is starting to protrude.
  13. I've always used this stuff....https://www.mpdhookandloop.com/self-adhesive/heavy-duty-adhesive-velcro/ I've used it for attaching midge-screens to my windows, telrads to telescopes, hand-control caddies to tripods. It really won't come off providing the surface is dry and grease-free. I know to my cost how sticky it is because I've tried repainting windows I've used it on!
  14. Thanks for that - all makes sense. None of it adds up and that does rankle with me but once I have the mount I'm sure it will be quickly forgotten. Well, maybe not; never forgive, never forget is my motto!
  15. I actually believe it has now defintely, actually....really left Germany. Wow...this has been drawn out! I think I have been taken for a ride but it looks like it will end well.
  16. Thanks and yes, although I've been quite clear with the retailer that if it's not with me within a fortnight, I really will give up on it then. They completely understand and say they would have given up a long time ago if they were me, so I think it will all be fine! Of course, as I'm buying it from a UK supplier, nothing has really changed for me in terms of rights etc. Hopefully it will just arrive!
  17. Update - I was ready to cancel and find a different use for the money when I heard it's now been dispatched from Germany. Whether this is dispatched again, or for the first time, I've given up trying to fathom, but I think it really is now going to get to me!
  18. I hadn't actually thought of eBay for this - thank you!
  19. No, it’s not the cost that scares me anyway. It’s taken 8 weeks and counting for a mount to get to me for Germany. It just gets on my nerves how stupid things have become in that sense although I guess nothing has changed from the point of view of US imports. Just me being irritable!
  20. Oh! I’ll give Al a call in the morning and charm them.
  21. I will do but the thought of asking anyone to import anything into the UK at the moment...I'll see what they say!
  22. A catalogue of ladies' sandals. Not quite the mount I have been expecting for nigh-on two months now. Argh.
  23. Sorry to raise an old thread but I'm finding it very hard to source replacement eyeguards for my 15mm and 24mm Panoptics. Anyone got any ideas?
