Show me your eyepiece/accessories case, please.

The 27mm Pan is a wonderful eyepiece Shane. I really don't think you'd miss the Nagler that much TBH. Knowing you like the narrower AFOV I think you'd feel right at home with the pan straight away, almost like putting on an old pair of shoes -
Wasn't implying you had anything to do with it James, it's just something I can't help but notice after spending so many years staring at walls It is shocking what some 'professionals' get away with. Anyway back on topic. I'll let you guys show off some more of your old rain water pipes

Wow! that really is some terrible block work you've got going on in the background there. Sorry couldn't help but notice being a brickie Nice scope BTW

Light shrouds for trusstube dob
swamp thing replied to todd8137's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I see what you mean (nice scope BTW) How about making some rings up out of plastic or lightweight wood that run around the trusses. So they make a kind of tube for the material to run around? Any semi rigid lightweight material should do the trick. You cold even sew them into some kind of pockets so they became part of the shroud. -
Light shrouds for trusstube dob

Hi Pat Have you a picture of the scope itself? tough to know what will impede on the light path without seeing it TBH. I know some people have added rigid loops to shrouds to help keep them out of the light path. -
Sky Watcher 18" StarGate first review
swamp thing replied to raanany's topic in Member Equipment Reviews
Very honest review. Definitely some build issues with this scope that SW needs looking into. Doesn't make for pleasant reading to know that customers paying considerable money are finding serious build issues like this. There's just no excuse for the junk screws you describe (keeping my shirt fully on I have experienced these type fixings myself). You kinda expect them on a cheap toy, not a £3500 flagship Dob from SW. Very disappointing...... -

Telrad died - replace or new finderscope?
swamp thing replied to sheeprug's topic in Getting Started General Help and Advice
On a smaller scopes I would opt for the optical finder first. Reasoning being I find I can eye down an optical finder to get the scope roughly on target then home in with the finder. On your 14"........not so sure eyeing down the finder will be accurate enough though. I struggle to do this on my larger scope and a tetrad is almost mandatory for rough aligning. I dont know about you but I find rough positioning tougher with larger tubes. This is where a tetrad really helps. Edit: Oops too slow I see you have sorted it happy days. -

Fullerscopes 11.75": to keep or not?

This is the sort of gear that if you sell it you will regret it for as long as you observe. A real one off, keep it -

Yeah it doesn't get much use these Days mate. Thats the trouble with having city scopes. You can only take one to a dark sky and funnily enough thats normally the big un. As for using them at home well I just can't be fagged.
