  1. I have found the Skywatcher Explorer 130p to have been a great beginner telescope https://www.firstlightoptics.com/telescopes-in-stock/skywatcher-explorer-130p.html as it is my first telescope. It took a little while to get to grips with things but i love using it. I have also upgraded my eye pieces which have enhanced the viewing experience.
  2. Hello everyone, I am just starting out in the hobby even though i have been interested in stars for years. Earlier this year i bought my first proper telescope a Skywatcher 130p to do a bit of observing. It was after i was able to see Jupiter and Saturn that i knew that this hobby was for me. I have also rekindled my interest in photography and to be able to combine both is something that really interests me. I have dipped my toes into astrophotography by using my Nikon D7100 and my 50mm f1.4 or 135mm f2.8 to take photos of Andromeda and Pleiades just using my regular tripod. For my first attempts i am really happy but understand there are limits to what i can do. The aim is to upgrade my setup, initially i want to upgrade to a better mount for astrophotography first. I can definitely see myself spending plenty of time on here reading the threads for ideas and suggestions. All the best, Alex
