  1. I raised this in an earlier post. As I see it, it would be impossible to exist in two places at once, so what happens if our traveller goes back say, five hundred years, does a bit of looking around for a couple of weeks and then returns to his/her point of departure? Would it be as though they had never left, that they return in the same instant they departed? And what would happen to them in the time zone they travelled to? Would everything be frozen at the instant of their arrival so that however long they lingered, nothing would change? Again, I couldn't see them travelling as a person, rather in a disassembled state - a projection if you like - that would hopefully all come back together when they get to where they're going, which raises all manner of problems that it's too late to discuss tonight. Anyway, just musing. Back to the wine🍷.
  2. The more we know, the less we know. Who would be bold enough to say this is not the case?
  3. Forgive me if I'm wrong about this, but as I understand it, the same photon can exist on either side of the universe in the same instant. If that were the case, then time travel may be possible by avoiding the tedious business of long distance space/time travel and instead, via the photon (and some infernal yet-to-be-invented machine), arrive instantly at wherever we would want to be. Now for heaven's sake don't ask me to justify or explain this, I'm simply entering into the spirit of the thread and musing 🍷.
  4. I suggested earth as presumably that's where we'd be starting from - can't see the advantage in getting fried before we start. So let's keep it simple. If our time machine only has the ability to go forwards or backwards from a fixed start position i.e., we have to return to our starting point, then the question is what our time does whilst we're in a different time. And the second question is, in what state do we travel - I don't mean drunk or sober - do we travel as ourselves or a disassembled collection of atoms/photons/bits or something else altogether?
  5. So if we build a time machine and set it for 500 years in the past, I assume we arrive at the same geographical point as it was 500 years ago. We have to hope therefore, that there wasn't a large oak tree growing in that exact spot at that time. If we successfully navigate that hurdle, and our time machine has the ability to travel from the point of transfer so that we end up a considerable distance from it, if we return to what was our present from that point, where would we arrive? At our original departure point or the place we have travelled to?
  6. Perhaps our civilization died out before time travel became possible?
  7. Motion sensitive lights can be easily adjusted both for the distance at which they detect movement and the length of time they stay on. Speak to your neighbour about this and maybe the two of you can have a bit of fun getting them set to your mutual satisfaction. He/she might even fancy a look through your scope afterwards............could be the beginning of a great friendship??!!!
