  1. Thank you, just waiting for it to be delivered. Clear Skies
  2. Thank you. I will go with the 12mm first then and see how l get on. Many thanks.
  3. Hi, do you mind if l ask what scope you use the bino's in. l have the Nexstar 6SE and the CPC800. My wife has just bought me the Celestron Binoviewrs. l have a new 8mm and a 12mm BST star guiders eyepiece and was considering doubling up on one of those. Do you have a preference over the 8mm and 12mm. Many thanks.
  4. I just normally use my back garden, not great and really limited viewing wise. To be honest a bit reluctant to go out with over £1K's worth of astronomy stuff on my own. I have thought about the isle of sheppy. I know a dark site in a carpark there right by the sea. I do most of my astronomy in France though.
  5. I'm in Northfleet, light pollution is bad here as well. I'm also a member of Mid Kent Astronomical Society. A good group if you are thinking of joining an astronomy group.
  6. Welcome to SGL from another Kent resident. I also have the Celestron 6SE in my arsenal and it is my most used scope.
  7. Welcome to SGL from North Kent.
  8. Many thanks for all your replies. Yes all ascom drivers installed and it was coming up Ascom error. I spent an hour down the observatory this afternoon and was able to connect to everything except in NINA it would not connect to the mount. Switched on and off several times and all seems good. I will find out later when l start imaging. I will do the mount software update tomorrow and hopefully that will fix any bugs.
  9. Good evening everyone, just a quick question. l have the Skywatcher star adventurer GTi. a good friend set it all today with Nina and CDC. We can not get the mount to respond unless my laptop is connected to the internet. That's ok if lm at home but lf l wanted to go to say a dark sky site and have no internet access it will not work. lt is set to serial. so l was wondering as its set to serial and connected via a USB the inbuilt WIFI will not work. The manual is not very clear. Many thanks.

  14. Welcome to SGL, here is their website. www.ashfordastro.org.uk You also have www.midkentastro.org.uk which l am a member of. A very friendly group which holds regular meetings with quest speakers and weather permitting a bit of observing after. We meet at Bredhurst Village Hall. Both have Facebook pages. Clear skies. Steve.
  15. Welcome to SGL. l have the 6SE (along with 3 others, can you have too many scopes?) which l bought for myself as a retirement present to me. lt's a good scope and gets more use than the other 3. Lots of good advice already given above. Enjoy your new scope and enjoy your new hobby something that both you and your son can do together.
  16. Found this in UK and under £2.

  20. I think you will find the Star Adventurer GTi is a different mount to the AZ GTI. I have the SA GTi it's a lovely little mount and full goto.
  21. Good morning everyone. ls anyone using Binoviewers on the CPC800? Any help and advice much appreciated. Budget about £400. l know l will have to buy a 'matched' pair of eyepieces and any recommendations as to a cheapish pair to start with. Thank you in advance for any relies.
  22. Welcome back to SGL. Also a Francofile and as you say properties over there can be as cheap as chips, and the clear skies. Also enjoying my Astro with what l have. S
