  1. Past hour
  2. Hey Olly, I just got my hands on this scope, and am in the process of setting up. Can you elaborate on this statement? What do you mean? Thanks
  3. In my opinion and from what I saw these are the same scopes from the same assembly line. WO's are beautiful though in those bling colours
  4. hello Peter, sorry I didnt reply earlier but not been well over last couple of days, the capture was with a ZWO174mm camera using a Lunt 60 PT BF1200 and using Sharcap Tony
  5. Is this powered hub just a generic one? Personally I avoid hubs like the plague and put up with a lot of USB cables. Olly
  6. It wont let me bin the main camera. Only the guide camera, and only when guiding. In fact anything other than 4x4 on the guide camera and I get no picture at all.
  7. Not sure if this proposal might not actually be a bonus, most Google apps are bloatware that sap memory and resources. I have spent weeks routing an old Samsung J5 that completely ran out of memory with the installed factory google/microsoft apps and their updates, was bliss to be able to delete them.... Alan
  8. It's already F5 and has a front lens. Would it like to be pushed much faster even if you found a reducer? Not sure. This scope seems to have gone quiet of late but I always thought it a very interesting one with huge potential. They do need to be very well set up but I remember Steve Loughran getting great results with his a good few years ago. I remain surprised that nobody, so far as I know, has made a more mechanically up-market version using the stock optics. F5's good. Fast but not silly-fussy on depth of field for focus. Olly
  9. I have just looked at the Photo line 102mm f7 with FPL 53 objective. I would imagine a similar performance to the WO 103mm ZS. Has anyone purchased from Teleskop Services. How reliable are they?
  10. One Helios Mistral WP6 50mm Binoculars 12x50. Sale New, unopened stock, with full manufacturers warranty. £86.00 £77.00 (saving £9.00)
  11. Thank you for that. I hadn't realised that SCT focusers did not protrude into the OTA! When I posted my question, I wasn't very optimistic about getting anywhere. Now, it seems that I have some choices in front of me, The forecast says that it is going to be clear tonight, so I will see if I can connect up my old wobbly image train and get some accurate dimensions for backfocus. Ideally, I would like to get a field flattener into the system, and if I could reduce the F/L to about 1500mm, then I would be very happy indeed!
  12. Hugh Thanks for that. I do have a multimeter, in fact I've just bought a new one as the continuity switch position on my old one has become intermittent. I will give that measurement a try tonight. Thanks Peter
  13. One Sky-Watcher Extension Tube for EQ5 / HEQ5 / AZ-EQ5. Open Box Open box. Complete with full manufacturers warranty. £63.00 £56.00 (saving £7.00)
  14. I have 3 of those, somewhere on earth there is a landfill where tractors are moving huge mounds of those around, world governments will meet in Geneva to discuss hurling them into space in giant nets towards the sun.
  15. For sure - if you have tracking, get anything that provides utmost clarity in the center of the FOV. I only had a tracking mount briefly. A CG5. Was trying AP. It was not for me. I’m into very simple setups and least fiddly observing. No patience for AP. I have encoders and a Sky Commander XP4 Flash on one of the mounts and I’m too lazy to even do a two star alignment most of the time. It has slo mo handles but tracking with an alt-az mount with slo mo handles is a bit like trying to make curves on an Etch-A-Sketch.
  16. That is a pretty focuser i must say, and looks like its built to last at that!
  17. I assume the same goes for Huwea's Matebooks? They looked like a better and cheaper alternative to the MacBook Pro as well
  18. Yes, that is a good price and probably well worth it for what you get and the saving of effort. I'm finding that applies to a number of things.
  19. Fair comment. Never had the problem myself. I like the clarity of the Ortho design. Glen.
  20. Now why why why why why why!!!!! hasn't every other manufacturer thought about a finder on a ball head like that? BRILLIANT!!! i will now adapt finders onto small ball heads like that one.

  26. None of those links show the mini ball head? Is that a separate purchase?
  27. James, Just a thought as I know you have purchased the drag strap (ooh er missus!) for the end flap but, how about a fashioning a socket in the top middle of the flap which you can shove the end of a broom handle of other appropriate legth of material when closing so that you just lean on and lever the flap into a managable position?
