  1. Past hour
  2. It's already F5 and has a front lens. Would it like to be pushed much faster even if you found a reducer? Not sure. This scope seems to have gone quiet of late but I always thought it a very interesting one with huge potential. They do need to be very well set up but I remember Steve Loughran getting great results with his a good few years ago. I remain surprised that nobody, so far as I know, has made a more mechanically up-market version using the stock optics. F5's good. Fast but not silly-fussy on depth of field for focus. Olly
  3. I have just looked at the Photo line 102mm f7 with FPL 53 objective. I would imagine a similar performance to the WO 103mm ZS. Has anyone purchased from Teleskop Services. How reliable are they?
  4. Thank you for that. I hadn't realised that SCT focusers did not protrude into the OTA! When I posted my question, I wasn't very optimistic about getting anywhere. Now, it seems that I have some choices in front of me, The forecast says that it is going to be clear tonight, so I will see if I can connect up my old wobbly image train and get some accurate dimensions for backfocus. Ideally, I would like to get a field flattener into the system, and if I could reduce the F/L to about 1500mm, then I would be very happy indeed!
  5. Hugh Thanks for that. I do have a multimeter, in fact I've just bought a new one as the continuity switch position on my old one has become intermittent. I will give that measurement a try tonight. Thanks Peter
  6. One Sky-Watcher Extension Tube for EQ5 / HEQ5 / AZ-EQ5. Open Box Open box. Complete with full manufacturers warranty. £63.00 £56.00 (saving £7.00)
  7. I have 3 of those, somewhere on earth there is a landfill where tractors are moving huge mounds of those around, world governments will meet in Geneva to discuss hurling them into space in giant nets towards the sun.
  8. For sure - if you have tracking, get anything that provides utmost clarity in the center of the FOV. I only had a tracking mount briefly. A CG5. Was trying AP. It was not for me. I’m into very simple setups and least fiddly observing. No patience for AP. I have encoders and a Sky Commander XP4 Flash on one of the mounts and I’m too lazy to even do a two star alignment most of the time. It has slo mo handles but tracking with an alt-az mount with slo mo handles is a bit like trying to make curves on an Etch-A-Sketch.
  9. That is a pretty focuser i must say, and looks like its built to last at that!
  10. I assume the same goes for Huwea's Matebooks? They looked like a better and cheaper alternative to the MacBook Pro as well
  11. Yes, that is a good price and probably well worth it for what you get and the saving of effort. I'm finding that applies to a number of things.
  12. Fair comment. Never had the problem myself. I like the clarity of the Ortho design. Glen.
  13. Now why why why why why why!!!!! hasn't every other manufacturer thought about a finder on a ball head like that? BRILLIANT!!! i will now adapt finders onto small ball heads like that one.
  14. One Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Equatorial Wedge White. Customer Return Customer return. In full working order and in excellent condition with full manufacturers warranty.. A very minor marks on the supplied dovetail. Unboxed. £45.00 £40.50 (saving £4.50)
  15. Can you confirm how tall is this and outside diameter please
  16. No longer available under the Svbony brand with the ball head but still available under a different brand. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-Gravity-Solar-Finder-Used-For-Sun-Positioning-Total-Solarscope-Eclipse-Partial-Eclipse-Observation-TelescopeW2563AB/32815681374.html Its identical to this ball head from Amazon though and quite cheap. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0189228CS?tag=stargloung-21
  17. One Sky-Watcher Evostar 80ED DS-Pro OTA and Aluminium Case. Open Box Open box scope. In full working order and excellent condition, complete with full manufacturers warranty. £359.00 £323.00 (saving £36.00)
  18. None of those links show the mini ball head? Is that a separate purchase?
  19. James, Just a thought as I know you have purchased the drag strap (ooh er missus!) for the end flap but, how about a fashioning a socket in the top middle of the flap which you can shove the end of a broom handle of other appropriate legth of material when closing so that you just lean on and lever the flap into a managable position?
  20. I agree John but the one I purchase had the extra dovetail plate.
  21. I did as well Gina using a Pringle tube but it really was too large. I felt that £17 for a handy small metal device, which also included a separate dovetail plate, was a good deal. In fact I am going to use the dovetail plate on my 12" Dob because it will hold my 80mm Finderscope better as it has two holding screws.
  22. 24. One ZWO ASI 120MC-S USB 3.0 Colour Camera. Open Box Open box camera. Complete and in excellent condition with full manufacturers warranty. £146.00 £131.40 (saving £14.60)
  25. Thanks to @johninderbyI also purchased this solar viewer from China. It came within 7 days and cost just over £17 with postage. Fitted the solar viewer in a finderscope bracket and both the main refractor and solar viewer were perfectly in line. I used a sharp pencil to outline the display screen to make it more easy to view. I won't show a photo as @chaz2bhas already done a good job above. However, I attach a eBay link just in case anyone else wants to purchase this handy little device. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SVBONY-Solar-Finder-Scope-Fully-Metal-Mount-Dovetail-Slots-Mount-Dovetail-Slots/323318485106?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
