After enjoying an earlier session in the month viewing the sun I decided to purchase a solar finder and solar shield from Scope n Skies and a Baader Solar Continuum Filter from Sherwoods.

I dashed outside yesterday, first chance I had, and was set up and stripped down within the hour! I grabbed three great shots through the new Solar Continuum filter and it wasn't until I downloaded them as raw images to the pc, that I could see all the extra detail over a simple white light shot. There is at least 8 features in the above image alone!

This time I used eyepiece projection to take the pictures and mounted my Canon 1000D to my 32mm Revelation Photo/Visual EP using the Canon T-Ring. I set the camera to Bulb mode and ISO 100. I find focus is to be the biggest problem and I used a bracketing technique on one of the dark sunspots. I use a remote shutter release as standard.
