The ”Cat’s Paw/Bear Claw” & ”War and Peace” Nebula region - NGC6334 & NGC6357
My first completed image with the HyperStar... The ”Cat’s Paw/Bear Claw” & ”War and Peace” Nebula region - NGC6334 & NGC6357
The main nebulae within are NGC 6334, an emission nebula and star-forming region also known as the Cat's Paw Nebula, Bear Claw Nebula or Gum 64. Estimated distance of about 4,350 light-years from Earth.
Near by is NGC 6357, AKA, "Lobster" nebula or "War and Peace Nebula" because of its appearance in the bright western part that resembles a dove and the eastern part resembles skulls. Estimated distance is about 5500 light years away both are located in the constellation Scorpius,
Taken through a 8" SCT at f1.9 with a Hyperstar reducer using a QHY268M camera, in RGB natural colour, with added H-Alpha & OIII narrowband signal to capture fainter nebulosity and to extract more details.
The total integration time for this photo was only 4 hours and 54 minutes.
Software used to capture, stack and process this image were APT 4.50, PHD 2.6.13, DSS 5.1.6, Siril 1.2.3 and Photoshop.
