SH2-132

alan4908

SH2-132 is a faint expansive emission nebula about 10,000 light years distant which is located at the southern edge of Cepheus.   The region imaged has some dramatic dark dusty details which contrast well to the brighter regions.

The narrowband image below was constructed from the Pixinsight script Narrowband colour Mapper ( https://www.cosmicphotons.com/pi-scripts/nbcolourmapper/) which allows assignment of different hues to NB channels whilst observing the result in real time.  I like this script since if allows experimentation of different hues to a particular channel whilst remaining in the linear state.  I choose a rendition that resulted in natural looking star colours.
