The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy, Messier 83 (M83) or NGC 5236 is one of the closest and brightest barred spiral galaxies in the sky, located 15 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
The nickname of the Southern Pinwheel comes from its similarity to the Pinwheel Galaxy, M101.
This image was exposed across two nights, 4 & 5 April 2022, using a QHY268M through a Celestron C8 SCT at the native 2032mm focal length, tracked on a Hypertuned CGEM mount.
Total exposure time was 5 hours and 47 minutes through all LRGB filters.
