M82 - Cigar Galaxy

Toxophilus

Messier 82 - Cigar Galaxy
A starburst galaxy about 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major.
Taken on an evening with a lot of light pollution, wind and cloud. Given the conditions I'm amazed at how well it came out. I only intended to do some auto guiding practice as conditions were so bad, but I decided to have a go at a target anyway. It looks like that practice has paid off. I had to throw a low of images away due to the wind, even some of the ones that I kept were a little suspect. For more information the AstroBin link is: http://www.astrobin.com/243091/
