M13 - 110 x 3min subs

spaceman_spiff

M13. Processed using DSS. Hardware details: Camera: Nikon D200. Telescope: SW Evostar 120 with Baader UHC-S filter. Mount: AZ-EQ6 guided using a ST80 synguider. Image details: Lights: 110 x 3min at ISO 800 taken over 4 days of imaging, Darks: 20 x 3min at ISO 800, Lights and darks separated by 1 min intervals. Flats: 40 x 1/40s at ISO 800, Bias: 30 x 1/8000 at ISO 100

Dates of capture 05/03/2016, 13/03/2016, 15/03/2016, 17/03/2016. Conditions: Generally clear sky. Seeing was good for most nights. The guiding was stable and unguided, I could get 1 min subs so PA was accurate enough. Some subs showed elongation along Dec axis - possible bad calibration (too aggressive?). The wind was very light so that was not the issue.

I increased the saturation by 25% and aligned the colour channel histograms until the dark signal at the edge of the image (the darks were not quite cancelling the dark signal) was the same as in the original photos.

That has to be my favourite of the lot!

Thanks! M13 is so rich. With more stacks, it gets better defined in the core and faint stars around the edge begin to appear! Definitely one of my favourite targets!
