IR Cutoff Filter

frostynixon

Inspired by the great "debayer dslr" thread here, i also wanted to have a mono dslr. As a first step i bought a used D5100 and removed the IR Cutoff filter that you can see in this picture. Now the camera would have the label "astro modified". Getting the filter out took me 2.5h, although i have done that for the first time. The soldering part isn`t as dramatic as one might suspect.
