West Cornwall

West Cornwall

I had plans for 2 shots, all stacked and blended, but returned to the mine and saw the Milkyway direct in line with the mine.
The headland image is OM1 17mm pro Iso 6000 F1.4 10s 10 sky images

the mine is OM1 7-14mm f2.8 iso 4000 14 images stacked plus foreground lit with head torch.

This was the first time I’d attempted this level of blending and stacking

the mine has a history where 20 miners sadly lost their lives when it was flooded.
I felt a title of Stairway to Heaven or Ascension might be fitting

That looks like Cape Cornwall. Part of my old stomping ground before I moved to Spain. Lovely photos that brings back the memories.

Thanks

It is indeed the Cape, my wife lived in the terrace at the top of the hill (opposite the golf club) I’m from Penzance originally

My sister lives in Penzance, father from Redruth, mother from Falmouth and my brother and sister born in Falmouth. I'm of Cornish blood but was born just across the border in Plymouth. Before my exodus I lived down on The Lizard where we weren't bothered by too many emmets.
