What will the neighbours think?

Seeing has my wife likes to go to bed early! 9pm watch telly etc, i took the binoe`s up so i could see ISS coming over last night at 9.28, i was sat in bathroom with window wide open waiting with the sky masters binoe`s. must have looked a right perv hanging out there, ISS was good, low in sky very bright, wish i had scope out it was travelling quite slow, i reckon i could have tracked it with the heritage dob, for a bit more detail.

iss? no! its a chinese lantern!!

went out for a look at ISS last night coming over at 9.04 for 5 mins so the NASA website said, had my 17x80 bins out what i thought was ISS, blumming Chinese lantern!! DOH, anyway did manage to get the correct object now heading east, very bright and in low orbit. Had a quick peek at Saturn with my scope out, now heading in to south, not much out at 9.30pm. Was hoping for the Lyrids but looks like i have missed them yet again, been cloudy here in York most nights, and foggy haze in early hours.

Hi all, looking at telescopes and stuff found this on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Meade-Celestron-Telescope-Rotating-8ft-12ft-Observatory-/320670685347?pt=UK_Telescopes&hash=item4aa97658a3#ht_6280wt_932 so if you have a kids trampoline and a climbing frame, you too can build one! i am quite impressed at this.

was the moon super for you?

Hi all, yes it was blinding! came up about 7pm. above the houses, had to put filters on, a bit of a yellowish glow, some cloud about which spoilt the view, got more footage with the philips spc web cam 900. Waited it out for Saturn to come up, struggling to see it with finder scope, had to use binoes to work out where to put scope, on full power 9 mm x2 Barlow, just about saw it yellowish blob!! that was around 9.00pm

F5 fast scope to slow scope?

Hi all, here`s a ponder for you all, i have been collimating my scope a heritage 130p , now this is a fast scope, i have collimated it and now it is slow scope? the mirror are not offset has described in Astro Babys guide at the end of the article, so the question is will the mirrors align offset anyway when collimated, ie because of short tube scope . Or is it i have done it wrong? i have done the star test and it looks ok to me, but.... the images just could be a tad sharper? yours paul.

revelation eye piece kit

Well i splashed out on some new lenses, the revelation eye piece kit £127 from FLO, and a Cheshire collimator, and a sky watcher light pollution filter. Over all the lens seem well made an finished nice, had a quick go last night with them, the 9mm with Barlow rams up magnification but very hard to get good focus , and contrast very dim. The 32mm sliding barrel projection camera job fits Pliedies in well. Not quite worked out yet what you do with this . Probably the word camera is the operative

heritage collimation woes

Hi,all been trying to collimate the heritage 130p what a night mare, i bought a cheshire collimator!, i used it other day to collimate the scope but....... few things you need to be aware of with a cheshire, 1. there`s a lot of play in the tube when put in the eye piece slot few turns of sellotape soon sorted that out has someone else had the same problem on here. 2 you need it a fair way out to centre the secondary mirror so you can see the mirror mount. 3 when you put it fully down to stop en

If it was Andromeda. been pulling my hair out trying to find rose nebula, i lnow its off the shoulder of Orion betelgeuse and a bit down, theres a pink

no colour?

Hi there all, sorry if i appear a bit thick on this question? But why is there no colour when viewing objects e.g Orions sword, pleidies, only see black and white, i have a heritage 130p reflector 25MM and 10mm ep only, do i need filters? or is it a case of bad light pollution? or other e.p sets? thanks yours paul.
