Full Moon

The Universe is a great place! In the last week I have watched as Comet Garradd sailed serenely past the Coat-hanger asterism, I've seen a magnificent rainbow whilst visiting Sheffield, and on the road back to home in Lowestoft we headed from day into night as the Moon and Jupiter climbed slowly upwards from the horizon. Weather and moonlight permitting, in the coming week I hope to see the new supernova.:)

Jupiter - Io - Astro-Tech AT8iN, Explore AR152, Baader Fringe Killer

This blog is part observation, part scope comparison, and part equipment test. What can I say my time is limited I had to squeeze it all in to one session :) All-nighter Friday night started poorly - I missed the boat home (I was the last car not to get on). I left work at 4.15pm and finally got home at 9.15pm. So I thought, I'm not losing my Friday night. I decided to pull an all-nighter and finally get Jupiter under a clear sky. I had dinner, took a shower and delayed until Jupiter was high en

The dessert today will be a supernova drenched in northern lights.

September 9th, 2011 The stargazing forum had been abuzz for the last couple of days about a supernova that had been recently discovered in the Pinwheel Galaxy (M 101). Boasting an easy find, I decided to give it a whir after a succulent supper of lobster tails, rice and broccoli (I'll eat broccoli with just about everything). The supper was perfect and adding a glass of wine from the Loire Valley made it sublime! I left the table for a well deserved dessert,... a

Does Your Corporation Need To Have A registro de marcas?

Once you have a corporation and is also or has begun to become a realistic problem you probably are wondering if your company needs to have a registro de marcas. Trade marks are generally unique symbols or other information which might be utilised by a corporation, to establish a product or service to individuals. everyone has experienced them and many folk respond swiftly to particular registro de marcas as these signs engender instant acknowledgement as well as trust. Sun halo adorned with cigar-shaped UFO

A night with my students and,.. something else!

September 6th, 2011 I wasn't thinking of staying long outside and didn't have any set goals but I simply couldn't let a cloudless night pass by without attempting to explore the skies! I set up and decided to return to the constellation Cygnus for another romp. As I was making sure everything was aligned, I heard a strange noise. It was subtle but I recognized it right away. Something or someone was playing with the tarp found around the BBQ. Could it be that a wild animal was

UFO sfære or meteorological phenomena?

Stationary UFO sphere photographed resting on a cloud in the sunset over Denmarks third biggest city, Odense, back in september 13, 2009, 19.36 pm local time. This one has been through SUFOI (Danish UFO Information) and climatologist John Cappelen from DMI (Danish Meteorological Institute), has been looking on some of the pictures, but no solid conclusion on what it was so far. There is an animation on the site made by 4 of the pictures, that shows the object is stationary while the clouds passi

Now is the Winter of our discontent..oh yes its cloud season again!

Summers over, it must be as I have just spent the last week and a half looking at cloud. The thunderstorm was fun....for a while...but then back to the cloud....dull grey ones skimming across the Galician country side. The sneaky little buggers formed a huddle behind some hill then jumped out on me whilst I was setting up and no amount of shooing would get rid of them. I´ve even started naming individual ones figuring that if I name them I can take them to court and get them evicted from the ski

Cygnus, Oh Cygnus, Wherefore Art Thou?

September 5th, 2011 (9:30 - 10:30pm) The last time I was out with my telescope, I was pressed for time and didn't experience the night sky as much as I wanted. My earlier quest had been simple, I wanted to harness the light capturing power of my scope in order to observe Messier Objects,... any object! I had not been successful in doing this with my smaller telescope during the summer and wanted to make-up for lost time. Nothing went in my favour and I returned home defeate

My New Roll off Roof Observatory

At last i have started building my observatory, still loads to do but the main construction is complete. The main part of the observatory was a 7ft x 6ft metal panel shed which i got from Argos for £150, this is sat on a base of 20 20" x 20" flags that i laid back in March giving them time to settle, the problem with flags is water rises between the cracks, so on top of that is a concrete base which the 7ft x 6ft metal panel shed sits on. The biggest problem i had was the overall size of my back

How to Upgrade a Meade SN10 Focuser to a Crayford Duel Focuser

I upgraded my focuser to a Crayford Duel Focuser last year, this is how i did it, you will need to make the hole on the side of the Optical tube assemble bigger, first I removed the rear mirror, after that I put the scope tube on it's side, leave the correction plate ( lens) on the front it will keep the tube ridged, before you start un-screwing the old focuser place a old towel or some material under the focuser and in front of the correction plate (lens) this will first stop the nuts from drop

I should have remained indoors. :(

August 28th, 2011 I hope this post doesn't often anyone for it is not my intention. I'm writing out of sheer disgust and frustration. I was finally back in the north where stargazing was at it's best. My 10" Sky-Watcher had been waiting for me during the month of July but what had welcomed me home were not skies of bliss but heavens completely littered with clouds! I watched as one night blended with another and still I had no chance. School had started which limited my sta

Observatory Adventure

So, I finally arrived at my new hometown for grad school. Since it's a much bigger school then I'm used to, I get to try out all kinds of new stuff like going to an observatory! Every week my school has public observatory sessions and it is just amazing. They have two large telescopes (I think 10 -12 inches) and the giant observatory telescope. I was able to see saturn, vega, and all kinds of celestial objects!! They pointed the big telescope at the moon and I could see the craters within the c
