Green Witch

I feel i should point out that my best experiences so far after humungous let downs from scopes n skies that Green Witch optics are unsurpassed for their service. After having also visited their showrooms and experienced excellent customer service. Lee is a top man indeed.

I'd even go as far as to say we have struck up a friendship.

Anotherone i feel is often overlooked is alan of skys the limit.

Again this man i have also had stuff from, top notch service.

Telescope House too i find are ace (reminds me to get my PST to them)

However i feel a tad over priced.

If i was going to source kit out again for myself, it would be shoot out between Green Witch and Skies the limit i think.

Even though Green Witch regularly pop up when googling, mentions on here seem few and far between.

I ordered on of their Astro Engineering IR blocker filters as they were on sale - arrived a couple of days later in a small plastic case in a jiffy bag.

Good to see that sale items are actually in stock, even though it was a low value order.

I stumbled across Green Witch last spring when I was trying to find a UK vendor that would ship a SkyWatcher SynScan AZ GOTO mount to Greece at a reasonable price. Previously I had used Telescope Planet for equipment with good results but their international shipping rates are on the pricy side. Green Witch’s offer was 40 pounds less than Telescope Planet’s (price of mount plus shipping), so I went with Green Witch. The mount was delivered in less than a weeks time and in excellent condition.

About two months later on one dark, clear, star-filled night the mount went belly up and started spinning around in circles. Let’s see, international customer wanting warrantee service … in my dreams I thought. However, with nothing to loose, I sent an email to Green Witch describing the problem. Lee, Green Witch’s professional staff astronomer, promptly responded with a short list of stuff to try … none of which worked. Reported my negative results back to Green Witch who responded …. ship it back to us and we will either repair or replace it at our expense …. which they promptly did (we split the shipping cost, I paid to ship it to the UK and Green Witch paid to ship it to Greece … twice it turned out as UPS could not find Greece and my mount took a tour of Europe and was retuned to the UK …. the Royal Mail came through the second time). Green Witch also send me some very neat DVDs as an apology for the failure of the mount. Turns out that the motherboard in my SkyWatcher hand controller was the problem.

Lee, Green Witch’s professional astronomer, is a very competent and pleasant person. We continue to exchange personal emails about astronomy in general periodically.

The repaired unit is really getting a workout … Its overloaded with a C6S, telrad, and a DSLR but continues to go strong.

Needless to say but I am very satisfied with Green Witch and will continue to purchase from them. They do bend over backward to insure that their customer is satisfied.

I placed an order for three TV Radians yesterday with Green Witch. Owing to the popularity of the offer Lee at Green Witch said they had run out of the 14mm Radian but were expecting an order soon.

In the meantime Lee has dispatched the 8mm & 10mm to me which have arrived in less than 24hrs. Lee will send me the 14mm as soon as he gets it in.

What is great is that this is being done on one delivery charge. And in the meanwhile I can crack on using the other two eyepieces.

Thank you Lee, great service.

I ordered a Televue binoviewer from Green Witch. Even though they had to be imported from the USA they arrived 9 days later. I was also kept up to date by email on the progress of my order. They also matched the lowest price offered elsewhere.

We done Green Witch.

I have had a connectivity problem with my Lumix FZ10 and Hyperion Mk111 Zoom. Lee was superb in looking at the solution for me which took quite a bit of his time. I also mentioned that I had lost an EP cap on a wild windy dark night...Lee posted me out a replacement .

I have to say that supply, service and support from Green Witch is absolutely superb.

My supplier list is now 2....Green Witch and FLO.

Both of these go the extra mile for service and problem solution with excellent communications.

Clear Skies

I have just returned from Arizona, having spent a week at the Green-witch house in the Arizona Sky Village. The house is fully equipped with all you need except food and clothing. There is room for two couples to share if you travel as a group or family. Best of all there is a 12" Orion intelliscope Dob, a Celestron Nexstar 6", a Coronado PST with a tuneable etalon filter, and binoculars. On the downside there weren't many eyepieces or filters so take your favourites with you. I also took a laser pointer which was invaluable when aligning the dob.

The first thing you notice is the brightness of the Milky Way over the roof of the house, the second thing is that you need a few minutes to find the Constellations in the myriad of stars above you.

I had a fantastic week with only one cloudy night, I saw more in six nights than I have seen in two years at home. Best of all, the air was totally dry so no dewing of optics even when the night time temp fell below freezing! Even my husband, who is not interested in astronomy at all, enjoyed several hours sun viewing through the PST.

The house is one of a small community of astronomers, so there is no light pollution, and they are a friendly bunch if you want advice on astrophotography or any other aspects of astronomy.

The ASV is in the high desert in SE Arizona and it is isolated - the nearest petrol is 28 miles away, the nearest supermarket is 45 miles away, and the Rodeo Tavern is a 20 mile round trip. If your partner is a shopoholic they will not enjoy the stay! On the upside the wildlife wanders past your window - we saw a young Coyote pass by the deck within 15 feet of us. We also saw wild pig (Javelina). A drive up the mountain and a bit of hiking may bring you a sighting of Black Bear or Mountain Lion. The bird life is world famous.

If you want to spend some serious time observing or taking astrophotos without the hassle of the British weather I thoroughly recommend a trip to the ASV. All details can be found on the

Green - Witch website.

If you do not mind a couple of hours driving there are places to visit - just not big cities. Tombstone - remember Gunfight at the Okay Corral ? A great place to visit if you are into western history - in the boothill graveyard is a monument to 'Les Hall, four bullets from a 44. no Les no more'. Bisbee, Chirichua National Monument, and Fort Bowie - a nice 3 mile round trip hike - are all interesting day trips from the ASV.

If you time it right the ASV would be a great place to complete a Messier marathon.

I placed an order with Green Witch internet site this morning for two items.

Within half an hour I had received an email from Lee advising the lack of availability of one of those items, suggesting a couple of alternatives (which unfortunately were beyond my financial means at present) and asking how I would like to proceed.

After giving it some thought, decided I had to cancel the order, and within 5 minutes received an email confirming cancellation and confirming the situation regarding the payment I had made.

Together with the pre-purchase advice I received from Lee on a few weeks back, this represents a significant investment of time and customer care for no return.

WELL DONE, LEE & GREEN-WITCH

I phoned Greenwitch on Wednesday afternoon to order a Nagler EP. Lee explained that they had sold most at the moment (due to the current 20% discount) but he would check with his colleague (who was on the other line) if the EP I wanted was due in the next order. He said he would 'phone me back.

The next morning Lee 'phoned to say he had one in stock. I ordered it around 11am on the Thursday.

A large box arrived at my work the next afternoon. Inside the box was a smaller box surrounded by foam packing. Inside that box was the Tele Vue EP box surrounded by foam packing.

Lee 'phoned back when he said he would, and sent the EP when he said.

Good service.

Having just received an order from Green Witch I thought I should let you know that Lee is a very nice man, a very, very nice man.

I placed an order with them on Wednesday morning(4th May) for a Baader ACF 2 filter to mod my 350D. Later that same day I also had an email letting me know the item was in the post.

Marvellous, I thought, it'll be here tomorrow, and proceeded to strip down my camera in preparation. I know, I know, bad idea.

Thursday duly arrived and so did the postman. Sadly the only thing I got was the price of a pizza and an offer on double glazing.

Not a problem...maybe Lee had missed the last post. And my camera was safe, even if it was in bits. It'll be here tomorrow.

Well, Friday came, and went. As did Saturday. By this time I was a bit annoyed. Not by Green Witch I might add, just the Royal Fail.

So, being very impatient, I sent an email to Lee on Saturday afternoon to find out how it was sent and when. I didn't expect a reply over the weekend (who would?). Yet on Sunday, yes Sunday, I had a reply to let me know everything I'd asked about and that he would check to make sure on Monday when he got back to work.

Today is Monday (9th in case you're wondering). Did he reply?

Absolutely. Concerned at where my item was. And within 10 minutes of the reply, who should turn up? Yep, that's right. My 350D is now double glazed (and the pizza was nice too). Oh wait. Baader glazed (it will be when I put it back together).

I quickly fired off an email to Lee to let him know I had it in my impatient hands. No sooner had I done that when I got another reply asking me to let him know how it goes with the fitting and the results. Which I'll do not just for Lee but SGL too if I get a chance (I might need some help with reviews FLO, hint hint, lol (just make sure to order a van to get it back haha))

I know this was a long winded review of one company, but I also wanted to explain the process we sometimes have to go through to get our ordered items.

Green Witch - Service - 10/10

Royal Fail - Service - Pffft!

I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent service received from Lee at Green Witch over the last few months.

He tells you what he has in stock, when you can expect to receive it and that is what happens.

Very helpful and honest.

I'm sure it must have been posted here before but just want to show my appreciation for Green Witch Astonomy. Ordered a telescope cover and red light torch today at lunchtime and received an e-mail half an hour later to say they have been dispatched.

Thanks!!
