Wolves and Black Country observing group...

... is now officially formed!

Good to meet up with others off the forum tonight ;) Okay, so we didn't actually do any observing (well that's not quite true, there were three stars visible when we came out of the pub), but four of us met at the farm to check it out, and it seems a good site.

We decided that it's a place we'd be able to use at short notice if it looks like being clear and there's a few of us free on any particular night. So, the plan is to post on here and/or text round if we share numbers, whenever someone wants to go out there.

I'll PM those who were interested but couldn't make tonight, with my number and the address of the farm. Hope to see some of you there, with clear skies, soon!

It was a good start to sorting out an observing group and not a bad place either so a big thanks to Steve-bham for suggesting the site and sharing it with us. Thankyou Steve. Sorry you couldnt join us but hope to meet up with you soon. Wulfrunian, Goatsmilk and Steve-wolves are 3 great guys and look forward to our first decent observing session for the group.

All the best

Dont be shy and its only a lack of knowledge due to the lack of observing we do. One of the main aims for the observers group and especially for me is to be able to meet like minded people who want to expand on what little knowledge of the night sky we do have and progress to a more advanced level of observing.

Regards

hey solar wallace, I will be in exactly the same posistion... its all new to me too! only had scope since xmas! we all have to start somewhere and having different levels of abilities makes it all the more interesting I think... how boring would it be if we all knew it all!!

Yes all welcome Teaman, the more the merrier ;)

No need to be shy spacetrace! Although I've had a scope for a while, I've only changed to a dob since the end of last year, so I'm a newbie again trying to find my way round the sky! As you say, it makes it more interesting that we've all got different levels of knowledge.

Still interested, couldn't make it last weekend.

Even if we don't want to lug the fract there and I can peer through someone else's EPs. I'd be happy to donate the use of my Lappy and un-modded EOS 1000D.

AndyC and Solarwallace, It will be good to have you on board and yes, bring your lappy's and your explorers. It is your kit and the idea is to observe/image with it. This way as well, if you have any problems or just wish to compare then help may be on hand. Its a bit of fun and a chance to get out and use our scopes and chat about, well, astronomy.

Lets hope for a clear weekend soon.
