so a few months ago i took a trip to the grand canyon area, knowing this i took a photo, i just got into taking photos using manual mode and i didnt have a tripod so i used some rocks, anyway here it is. the red at the bottom was a passing car. also can anyone help me identify some of these stars? (middle of north america in august)

The big bright yellow star thats just up from the bottom and about the same in from the right is Antares in Scopius.

Messier 4 is just to the right of it and this region is the area known as Rho Ophiuchus, your just getting the dark

lanes of this area.

This is nore or less the pic you took but done on film.

At the top in the milky way offset to the right is the circlet that is scutum. Below that towards the bottom of the picture is the teapot of Sagittarius and to the right opposite Sagittarius is the long arc and stinger of the scorpion.

Does that help you get oriented ?
