Though my main problem at the moment is finding decent manuals for new scopes - Lunt and Skywatcher hang your heads in shame

 Agreed. The SkyWatcher 'manual' is bobbins.

The Lunt Ls50 'manual' (for a £1000 telescope with a sophisticated pressure tuner and filter system - introducing owners to the complex world of solar astronomy) is basically a couple of sides of typewritten paper (no pictures), so is useless even as a wobble stopper. Great scope though.
