The street lights are turned off at night now

In its continual search for money savings the council now turns the street lights off at night, just need a clear sky now, one week and still waiting..

In exeter? I'm only 40 miles away from there... Wonder if my skies will improve slightly as a result. What time they turn off or do they never go on?

Who knows, maybe plymouth will follow suit! (Wishful thinking)

Nice job! May we all be so lucky in our dealings with our city~town councils. The real test is making certain they don't legislate turning them on in the daytime!

Same here - I have four visible from my back garden

They dim at about midnight but still very bright. I hide myself and the rig behind a wall. Limits what I can observe of course. Am considering a tall windbreaker! Or a move to Exeter...

I wish they'd turn Gatwick's off then I'd have decent, dark(ish) skies all round. Although the damn cloud is more of a problem these last few months

My local council seem to have made it there mission to find new and inventive ways to kill off my night-time astro activities

Mine has been going off for some time (years), except 3 nights back the one opposite decided to stay on all night.

I had a terrible idea that someone had decided to leave one running and  that it was to be the one that was the most inconvenient to me.

It did however rejoin the rest and went off at midnight the following night and has done so since.

One other good thing of mine is that midnight seems to vary, presently the midnight switch off is about 11:45.

It is now December, the lights go off about 1.30 am and on about 05.30 am...   its still cloudy and windy (give the weather fronts as many cuddly names as you want, they are not cuddly) the geminids approach, cant wait

These new light poles are  much taller. That means brighter, in fact extremely bright should you glance at one, yet supposedly cheaper to run?

I wish the council would switch off the lights that shine over my back garden! Totally unnecessary in a cul-de-sac.
