Power for Celestron 8SE

Recommended Posts

Hi

As a new owner of an 8SE I've been looking at external power sources for it.

The Lithium power packs {of which there are many!) seem ideal in that they are small and seem to offer good capacity, an example is this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Floureon%C2%AE-16800mAh-Multi-Function-External-Smartphone/dp/B00SWIWBT0/ref=pd_sim_sbs_23_52?ie=UTF8&dpID=51Kce68PfsL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=1Q6HEDF6MSSS3N4XC1JV

Has anybody had any experience of using such lithium power packs to drive their scope? The downside on all of them seems to be a lack of a 'cigarette' socket which the celestron power leads end in.

Had until August the Tracer Power Pack. Only the small one here

Used with a Nexstar 5SE, so the smaller mount. With an 8, I'd suggest going for a slightly larger capacity.

Worked superbly, even at a star party in February this year with frost / ice on the ground. It came with the lead that was tip positive and worked right out of the box if I recall correctly. Well worth the £££ over the lead acid variety.
