I'm trying to get me a Phillips spc900 cam

I've got 2 Planetary images and now I'm ready for going deeper and fainter, what is the opinion on the spc900VGA ? I've got an old Pictor 216xt mono tec but, I'm getting frustrated trying to get my focus perfect so I can scribe the FT, I guess I'm trying to seek imediate gratification after a week of rain. Anyways my CNA is ready to purchase. So what's your opinion?

I'd be interested to hear how well these perform. Philips has made some good webcams that work very well for video-astrophotography. And at very affordable prices, too. I'll bet this one would work nicely in your 200mm F/4 Newt, my friend.

The Philips SPC 900 is an excellent webcam for astro...

BUT - is it still available or only s/h.

There may be other newer webcams but I'm out of touch with the market.

I can't find this exact model in the US - where Step is - but there are newer ones. And Philips also has adapters out there to fit them into a 1.25" eyepiece-drawtube. So I imagine the later models are still being used for video-astro. Heck - I've still got an old Toucam from 2003-ish. Philips' must have figured out what we're doing with them. Surprised they haven't written "ASTRO" on some and raised the price to $1,000!

Dave, well I tried to get my hands on a spc but, to no avail. I got an early Bday and Xmas present from my family in Ohio, Meade dsi lll plug n play . I'm learning inch by inch .
