Another polar scope help topic (:

Recommended Posts

So, after a few weeks of thinking I have aligned Polaris, and auto guiding and getting subs of 1-5 minutes without star trails, I notice that Polaris has moved well off the line.. So now I'm debating my polar align skills .. What's odd is when I search for help, everyone says "the small circle" in the polar scope, I don't have one ( see image, shocking quality cause it is with my phone and after breaking my back that was the best ha! )

So I'm really confused and I smell burning coming from my head cause I'm at a complete lost

Assuming you have centered the scope in the mount.

Turn the mount in ra axis so 6 o'clock is at the bottom.

Then using "polar finder" app set polaris in your polar scope to the same position as told in the app

Screen grab off polar finder for current position

Set with the adjusting bolts not the hand control obviously, you can also keep an eye on it to see if it's tracking round the circle during the evening, need to rotate dec to see through the polar scope to do this.
