Lumicon UHC 1.25 Filter

Recommended Posts

Yes you would notice a difference. The filter would also show you objects such as the Veil Nebula and the Owl Nebula which are practically invisible with a 4" scope without the filter.

There are quite a few other nebulous targets where you would see the benefits of the UHC filter. This report (often linked to on here) lists some more of them:

I concur! A good UHC can be the difference between: "Wow! That's incredible!" to "Oh My Lord!! Can someone help me find my jaw? It just hit the floor!" And Lumicon is an excellent choice for a good UHC-Filter.

The Orion Nebula - M42 - is just one of many 'targets' up there that benefit from a suitable filter. And a UHC-filter is but one type of filter. As you read through the article by David Knisely that John so adroitly linked to you, you will get an idea of how many, many objects there are for you to enjoy. And which filter David recommends, as well as does not - but you will be most welcome to ask the people here for their own impressions. Many outfits make these filters, and their prices and quality varies. So asking, as you have, can save a lot of time & money.

To go along with David K.'s article of filter & targets, I'll toss you a Messier object list to download (FREE) and use to help you plan. There are many other good software-programs to help you locate a great many other objects that Messier didn't find:

And there's more by the same fellow here:

Enjoy -
