Uranian moons

Took advantage of the opportune alignment of the Uranian moons last night. Although I am slowly coming to grips with the EQ mount, I didn't want to lose the opportunity through having problems with it, so I used the SE mount, and the ccd without reducer.

For some reason DSS refuses to stack more than one sub at a time - no idea why, but that means that this is just a single sub, processed with master bias, and a few adjustments applied with the DSS post-processing tools.

Nice shot - keep 'em coming :-) They're a favourite target of mine . Do try Neptune's Triton too as its about currently and Triton is the only 'star' close to Neptune!

Actually, I think Triton is a lot easier than these - it is somewhat brighter than the Uranian moons, but the primary is a couple of mags fainter - http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/252121-triton/#entry2751037

Curse ye! That was what I wanted to try last night, but I got clouded -off!

Well done though, if I can get something like that I will be happy.

The moons you got remind me of the Michael Moorcock story 'Goodbye Miranda', which is interesting as Google denies its existence! But I didn't imagine it!

I am struggling to figure how I am ever going to get Miranda. The exposure length I am using is barely long enough to get Ariel/Umbriel and Miranda is fainter, but always being closer to the planet than Ariel is in this picture, it is hard to see how it will ever not be overwhelmed by the planet's overexposure.

Gonna need bit more brain-pow'r, methinks .
