TAL Wooden Tripod - what is the maximum extended height?

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me what is the maximum height of a fully extended Tal wooden tripod, such as used to be supplied with the Tal 100R or RS refractors?

Also, any idea of the maximum load weight?

Thanks for any help!

Dave

Extendable height of 35" - 57"(approx 890mm - 1450mm).

From memory, there never was a quoted manufacturer max load for it.

I've had a Tal 200K and a 90mm apo riding on the Tal MT-3S EQ mount head. Scopes n finders etc, came in about 18kg, the mount & counterweights, approx 20kg.Worked well at full extension. Not as solid as my extended copy of the Tal 2M pedestal, which I made super heavy as it's 1/4" wall, 4.5" long steel tube. The tripod's still pretty stable considering the weight it was carrying. Didn't detract from the viewing experience, considering I am used to the virtual zero judder when viewing through an ep, then tapping the scope, with the pedestal.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Andy,that's really helpful, thanks:-).

I plan to put an 80mm F15 OTA on a CG4 on top of the TAl tropod, so not particularly heavy at all.

I did have one of these tripods several years ago and recall that it was a good, solid piece of kit, which is why I've bought this one:-)

Hope you are well and thanks again.

Dave
