Incoming! - 3nm NB Chroma Filters

I've just pressed the "Go" button on a set of 3nm Ha, Oiii and Sii Chroma filters from Bernard at Modern Astronomy.

They'll be here in a week or so from the States where they're being "optimised" for my f3.6 set up (my quote marks).

I've not seen a lot written about these filters in use but, from the little I've read, they seem to be be pretty good.

My initial plan is to load my FW with the Chroma filters alongside my existing Baader NB filters to see what the difference is. My fervent hope is that the Oiii halos are MUCH reduced - preferably gone altogether! I'll post the results.

Cool. I have a set of 3nM Chroma as well (in 50x50mm square size) but have not had a chance to check them out yet.

Hi Chris - yes, I saw you had some. Mine are 1.25" because I've decided to stick with my Atik 460 camera.

Be interesting to compare notes.

It will be really interesting to see how you get on with these Steve as they are in the Astrodon territory with regards bandwidth and at a similar price. I look forward to hearing about them
