opening file formats in Photoshop

hi all, 

when i open file formats in Photoshop CS3 i get a message asking me what i want to do before i open the file, i`m never certain what i should be choosing, i mostly use mono Tiff files and sometimes Fit files, any guidance please.

Where did the tif file originate from?

Maybe something in "Preferences" needs ticking / unticking.

I think it's something to do with colour spacing, if Photoshop does not know what colour spacing to assign it throws up the box above to let you choose, but I'm unsure which one I should be choosing.

I can import DSS, latest version, tiffs into P'Shop CS4 without getting any pop up messages, can't see why CS3 should be any different.
