Atik 383L – No image data transferring when camera is <10C

I will be contacting Atik support but wanted to put this out to see if anyone else has experienced this issue. I have an Atik 383L that is about 14 months old. Other than a constant struggle with moisture the camera has operated flawlessly. Recently I have experienced an unusual issue however. While the camera is at room temperature the camera works normally. However when the cooling process gets the temperature around 10c and below the camera transfers a blank image with no data. I have confirmed the shutter is operating properly as well as trying different power supplies and USB cables.

Re: Your moisture problems, you need to take out the three desiccant tablets and bake them in an over for two hours at 180o - pop them back in, wait a couple of days and your camera should then cool without any fogging or ice (I do mine three times a year).

But, in regard to the lack of data - that might be one for Atik (I've never heard of a 383 doing that).

Thank you. I do the baking of the desiccant tablets but you speak of baking yours three times a year. I have to change mine out after two sessions. I have nothing to compare with as this is the only Atik I have owned but from what I have read that seems to be excessive to what other people experience.

Every two sessions? Thats not right at all, also mention that when you contact Atik. You can also try a double dry, pop in some fresh ones - wait for the chamber to dry, then swap those out for another three (so youve got dry tablets in a dry chamber).

Well I have an update as I can somewhat control it. With the lens cap on and the camera cooling I can tap the top of the camera and it will start transferring images for a bit. Sometimes a half image. As it gets cooler they go blank until I tap it again. It appears to be something loose electrically in the camera and like a cold solder joint gets worse when cold. And the camera did take a nasty spill off a table to the floor not long ago. I have read the Atik has an exceptional repair and turn around time but not sure if that applies to people in the USA.
