Cocoon Nebula in Narrow Band

Just something to do whilst I raged at the full moon......not one of my best. Very hazy conditions ass well giving weird halos around the data in the HA channel. Not bothering to correct. I will image the object again in LRGB next time around.

I like the shock wave as well. There are nearly 300 images in the HA band in this stack but only 100 or so in the SII & OIII as the conditions really deteriorated rapidly but the RASA continues to impress- such a massive light gathering bucket!

Not too sure that youre looking at a shockwave feature. Looks like you may have imaged through a misted optic and a droplet formed. Everything is muted and out of focus inside the feature.

Conditions were clear but very hazy hence the muted look. The shock wave is a real feature as shown on other photographs.

Looking at some of the bright stars , there's some artefact on them that looks similar to a very faint Bahtinov mask. Have you noticed this before? Or was it just the conditions in general?

The sky was very hazy. The night was very poor transparency wise. I noticed the halo's around the stars. Not had this issue before so it might have been a combination of hazy sky & Dew on the corrector plate- not a good imaging session.

Well i'm not convinced. I reckon something else is at play here. But hey that's just my opinion, doesn't mean i'm right........ as my better half constantly reminds me :)

I think something was wrong either atmosphere that was not good but more likely the corrector plate dewing as the telescope was dripping in the morning when I covered it up.

I think Sara's talking about the diff spikes rather than the haloes. They show best in the three bright stars lower right of the nebula. They do look very like those created by a Bahtinov mask but I dare say they come from your cables? By the way, how do you manage the cables? 

I don't know what I'm looking for regarding this round shock wave. Sorry to be thick! Can someone be a bit more speific and help me out?

I'm assuming it's this feature Olly....

The stars do have small halos around them in this area

The spikes are from the cables. They are currently badly managed. I need to work something out for the cables which are currently the power & the USB interface. I think I may need to introduce 2 dummy cables to balance the diffraction pattern at 90 degrees per cable.
