ronin
Initially thought it should be OK, then decided likely no use.The LS8 uses the, or a, camera in the scope to perform the alignment, the LX10 will not have that camera and will have no connections to the mount for any alignment data to be transferred to the mount.I am guessing that the mount has to do it's own alignment and that it cannot be performed manually (????) - I have met the LS6 and presumably the LS8 is simply a larger variant. Never seen anyone manually align an LS6, equally the novalty is that it does it all itself so why would you do it manually.I would say that without the correct OTA with the built in camera and so the OTA to mount electrical connections that you may well not be able to align the system. You could check the Meade support for the LS8 manual, that may say if you can override the "auto" alignment and perform a manual alignment of the mount in the "normal" manner. It may well be an option - it would make sense for it to be an option just no guarantee. The question is that as well as the auto alignment did Mead leave in a fallback to enable manual alignment.
