Lunar occultation of Aldebaran - October 29th 2015

Looks like there will be a nice occultation of Aldebaran on 29th October at around 9.44pm, emerging around 10.44pm from behind the dark limb of the moon. Should be quite well positioned, starting at around 28 degrees and finishing at around 37 degrees altitude.

Very interesting. I'll be hoping for clear skies and will make it a point to get out and watch it. I just downloaded this same app after I saw you use it as a reference in one of my posts. It's taking forever to download, but it seems to be a gorgeous app. Clear skies, my friend.

These are great events and I think that such a low magnitude star being occulted is not so common?

Just had a chance to check to see if it was visible where I am in the US. Nope. :-( it just looks like it's chasing it all night long.

It seems that there is a series of occultations of Aldebaran coming up, although not all will be visible from the UK . There's one tomorrow morning!

I've not done any observing this week in fact - last Saturday night was the last time I got out. A lean spell ......
