NGC7380 4hrs 7nm Ha

Last night little effort: 4 hrs + of 7nm H-Alpha data on NGC 7380. Moon was a pain but carried on regardless

Well done with the moon.  At least you got something - clouded and raining here....  Is the focus quite correct?

I used a Bahtinov mask for focusing this one last night and yes it does look a little soft - no sharpening applied to this image either. Usually use the FWHM in Maxim (not sure why I didn't last night)...

Taken Chris' point above about sharpness and review my process - leaving out the noise reduction steps...

 I think I lost some small stars in the original too!

Looks good so far Francis  and when the Moon goes away you could probably top it up and replace some of the Moon damaged subs. That should make the sharpening and contrast enchancement a bit easier for you. Perhaps even follow it up with some OIII?

Added a couple more subs to this last night before the moon got too high ( cloud beat the moon anyway!).

processed as before in PI avoiding too much noise reduction and this time taken the image much lighter

Great capture! I want to have a crack at an HST version of this target, sometime this decade if/when the clouds decide to clear
