IC1396 - The Elephant Trunk Nebula

This is a two pane mosaic taken with a DIY H-alpha modded Sony A7S on a Takahashi Epsilon 180ED at F2.8 on Sat 22 August 2015

Each pane used 24 x 3 minute exposures at ISO 2000.

Before you ask: yes, I could easily see the nebulosity in liveview.

Well I'm impressed, and the exposure time is very short for a target like this. Good star colour, too. The Garnet Star looks beautiful.

Thanks - I was quite pleased with this result.  SQM gave a reading of 20.8 so I was battling a little bit of light pollution but I only used a IR/UV cut filter.

The Sony bulb mode  "star eater" problem was mitigated by dithering but if I had used 30 second subs it may have given a better result in terms of star shapes - I need to do a few more experiments on that front.
