Nene Valley Astronomical Society (East Northants) - Medieval Astronomy - 3rd September

Recommended Posts

On Thursday 3rd September join the Nene Valley Astronomical Society at Sudborough Village Hall, Main Street, Sudborough at 8.00pm for a lecture on ‘Medieval Astronomy’.

Seb Falk from the University of Cambridge will introduce the methods and instruments of medieval astronomy.  Astronomers in medieval universities and monasteries refined ancient theories, developed new ways of calculating and presenting information, and above all invented complex, ingenious instruments like astrolabes and equatoria.  Seb will explain some of these and show that perhaps the Dark Ages were not as dark as is often thought.  Admission £3.  All welcome.

Steve
