Pesky weather!

Recommended Posts

What with the moon being up recently and the poor weather forecast for the next week here, tonight looked like the only reasonable chance of imaging for a while.

'Clear outside' forecast a clear night so I set up and just did a two star alignment before the clouds rolled over. Ever the optimist, I waited half an hour till it looked like clearing. Focused and lined up and got one 150 second sub till the clouds rolled over again.

So I retired to the computer room and looked at many money spending opportunities (filters, power units, coma correctors, CCD cameras etc. All absolutely needed!). Went out at 1.00 pm expecting clear dark skies and found it raining and all my setup wet and soaking.

Emergency disassembling routine and wipe dry procedure followed and now in bed pondering how I am going to stack and process my nights haul of 150 seconds of the Soul nebula.

What a wonderful hobby this is! And so to sleep, said Zebedee...

Clear Outside isnt even giving me a glimmer of hope at the moment. Our weather has been miserable the past few weeks. Even so, I took the garbage out last night and was surprised to see a beautiful clear sky! Raced back in, grabbed my scope and accessories, took them outside.....and the clouds started coming over :(

If you are looking for money spending opportunities can I suggest:-

And I'm with you - just when are we going to get some clear skies that do not coincide with a full moon, family BBQs and too much work

Now why didn't I think of that! I've just ordered two from FLO. Thought that it would be a safe bet with their 'return if dissatisfied' policy.

The only problem is that I live within a few miles of Stansted Airport and they warn against use near airports. If you hear of any reports of near misses or aviation incidents near Stansted, you know it is me with my new gizmo....
