my Russian scope

Just purchased my self theTAL 100 RS  refractor –the ones I chased on eBay went for silly money in fact I only paid an extra £20 for a new unit from Harrison telescopes  shipped by first light optics apparently there are not many left now .

The scope arrived the next day with the Dew shield smashed – a new one is on its way to me.

I bought this scope to mount on my Sky tee 2 mount alongside my Sky watcher 150 pro maksutov

I have tried this set up and was most pleased with its performance, I have used the wooden base plate the scope arrives attached to to make a nice box with a piano hinge lid internal dimensions

180mm x 180mm x 1000mm the scope sits nice in there with the finder scope attached , obviously you have to store the dew shield separately and the tube rings also I leave mine attached to my tripod--I also made a nice cover for the front optics  .

I guess the main reason for this post is to say thanks to you people as I read the reviews on the Tal here before buying and so I believe I made the right choice I love it.

The other reason which prompted me to go with this scope was I bought my daughter a TAL 1 for her summer house observatory  and when we set it up I was just blown away by how good it was and we didn’t even have to do anything to it the mirror is pristine not even dusty – this was an eBay bargain at £60.00 .

But thinking about it I also read about that unit here first also – So Cheers.

Oh dear Mike

sorry I am new here and last time I tried to up load pic files I failed , but there is plenty of info and close up detail on the web, I would say in my opinion the focuser is amazing and you can put a 2” diagonal on if you wish the tube rings went straight onto ( thumb screws )  a medium  skywatcher mounting bar , though I did cut slots in my bar and spray it back up black , you don’t need to do this but to me it makes it neater and feels safer and the rings cant swivel , they can’t anyway once the scope is attached , hope this is of some help …..

I'm curious about these Russian refractors. Can someone post a photos of the rings and focuser please ?

Edit: Thanks.
