Is the ad odd on ABS ?

Seems a bit odd to me.  8mm Nagler could be a typo, but could you really have owned such a scope (from new, presumably) and only ever used it once?  And would someone who owned such a scope be likely to say "Fitted case for lenses"?

Given the value I'd certainly not buy it unseen, but I'd agree caution is recommended.

Come to think of it, the extras would probably come to half the asking price, which makes the OTA look ridiculously cheap.  Significant cause for caution on its own.

I have a Vixen ED102SS which is F/6.5. There was also a slower version, the ED102S which I think is the scope advertised. I think the ad is legit. It's a little on the expensive side though, even allowing for the value of the eyepieces and mount. If it was a FL102 then I'd be e.mailing the seller I think

I get the feeling from the wording that the seller does not know a great deal about the kit for sale. This can happen if you are having to dispose of gear where someone has passed away of course.

The ED102S and ED102SS are rarely found for sale as I recall. With the new prices being over £1K for the scopes as an optical tube when they were for sale I wonder if prospective buyers might have found the extra cash for the almost legendary Flourite version ?.

The one I have (ED102SS) was initially aimed at imagers being F/6.5. It's a pretty good visual scope though

That's what I thought, but that doesn't sit right somehow with the claim that it's only been used once.  Doubly so given that  the ED102S has been out of production for more than ten years I think?  Or have I got the wrong scope entirely?

I completely agree with the caution needed if contemplating this scope, but it is perfectly possible that it has only been used once. My experience in high-end sports cars showed that there are people who buy brand new cars that never get driven. Ever. I had one customer who had an Aston Martin Vanquish with 5 miles on the clock, he would have it trailered to have me service it, but I couldn't drive it on the road- just start it up to see if it ran!

Maybe the owner of this scope had/ has plenty more.
