Getting an Olympus lens onto a Nikon body...

Recommended Posts

Hello, I just dug up my 40-150mm lens that I got for my old Olympus e-410. I looked at some reviews and saw it had some remarkable stats for it's price- low vignetting and and almost entirely flat field at longer lengths & f.8

Since I can't use my E-410 anymore (electrical problems, wasn't worth the cost of fixing it) and now use a Nikon D3200, would it be a bad idea to get a converter to get my zuiko 40-150mm ED onto my nikon which currently only has an 18-55mm VR 2?

My main worry is that the conversion will be either impossible or cause unwanted vignetting, since extra stuff would need to be put between the lens and sensor as well as the Nikon's sensor being larger.

If I can't convert it cheaply, I might just sell the lens, not that it would go for much since it cost £70 new (or at least I think it was new when my parents got it for me)

Cheers!

If its a micro 4/3 then it would not reach focus with the Nikon but a quick trawl on the tinternet shows the lens you describe as being worth in excess of £150 second hand but I may have got the wrong model.

I forgot to add a photo: http://i.imgur.com/RR6aMj1.jpgThat should help.

It could be worth that much? I might end up selling it anyway and looking for a decent lens native to my camera XD

I think that the one new price around £230 but have just seen another used one for about £100, you might get a good trade in deal from someone like WEX or MPB photographic.

Hmm, I still have the box so you might be right.

I'll have to see what they might offer me for it since it's in good nick. Although london camera exchange said they wouldn't take it because it was in the first stages of developing fungus.

I decided to sell it on ebay in the end since the listing prices were around £70 for other lenses of the same type, thanks for the advice.
