Skymax 127 or OMC140

I've been thinking of getting a Skymax 127 to put on my AZ goto mount but I noticed an OMC 140 on the ENS Optical website for £350.

Which one would you advise me to get.

Both good scopes, but I would check that the 140 would fit on your mount as it will be a good deal heavier.

The weight of the OMC 140 OTA is 3.5 Kilos so should be ok for the AZ goto.

Wow, that is the same weight as their Carbon fibre tubed version.  ENS also have C6 SE for £300...

Crikey John, that seems a lot - only 2lbs less than the 8". Checked the manual and spot on. There was a thread :--http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/147663-celestron-c6-ota/

And it was somewhat less in practice.

I had a Skymax 127 and found it lacking on the planets, the larger aperture of the OMC will give better results on all the targets you mentioned.

The scope spec gives the weight as the optical tube kit, which obviously includes the arm and other bits. FLO gives the weight of an SE6 OTA as 10lbs, 4.5 Kg

Sorry for the confusion, I will have to ask Awen to be a little more thorough with her research

Can't wait for first light.

I would say you made a good choice with the 127, the OMC140 has a higher focal length and this can be a bit of a nuisance at times

the 127 has a big following for good reason
