Hi all,  :laugh:  

Just getting started in astronomy and its about time I introduced myself to people with the same interests. ( I didn't realize there were so many).

I have never really had a hobby, or the time to have one.  I'm sooooo excited to get started  :grin:

I never "connected" with my first telescope. Only viewed the moon and Jupiter with it as it ended up becoming my enemy and put away...very flimsy, would not stay still and with every vibration it moved, not enjoyable.

So I  read lots, joined online groups, bought books and was amazed at what other people could see.

So yesterday I received a skywatcher 130m for my birthday, still figuring it all out, but its up, and I love it!

It moves smooth, it feels smooth and looks great.

All I'm waiting for now is clear skies.

Hi There,

Warm welcome to SGL. Great choice of scope to start with. A couple of books to help are 'turn left at orion' and 'sky&telescope pocket star atlas' , these will help guide you round the sky. Also download a planetarium program, try Stellarium its great and free to be found here :-- http://www.stellarium.org/

Hi Ktee and welcome to the forum.

The 130 is a very good performer and popular here among many members and you are certainly going to observe some great objects for sure. Don't hesitate to ask any question as they arise (just post under the relevant section) and remember that there isn't such a thing as a daft question, only the one you didn't ask.  :grin:
