Ring and Crescent nebula... pics

Here are my efforts of the Ring (15 * 5min iso 400 + calibration frames) and Crescent nebulas (15 * 5 min iso 400 and 13 * 5 min iso 800 + calibration frames) from two nights ago. Crescent imaged over two nights...will return and add longer exposures.

Steve, I used a 1.25" Baader UHCs filter on my unmodded 550d. No doubt a modded camera would get better results with less exposure... I also like the crescent one... I think longer and/or higher iso settings would turn the crescent into a kind of ball... I will try and add to it the next time we get some clear skies.

The Ring nebula is a strange looking object. Almost cold and ugly in comparison!

Thanks for the info Tim. One of those filters is now on my 'To Buy' list.  I know what you mean about the ring, it's like one of those paintings with eyes that follow you around the room!
