Methuselah star on view now!

One of the oldest known stars some 14BY old and dubbed the Methuselah star [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_140283] is currently on view in Libra 'above' planet Saturn after dusk low in the SSW and visible in small binoculars at mag 7 with the aid of my chart.
My shot of the Methuselah star [=HD140283] from last night is also below.

The star is a metal poor Population II star just 190LY away so these stars must be commonplace. As yet there appears no candidate for the first stars after the Big Bang eg Population III stars. Our sun is a 'young' third generation Population I star.

Thanks for the "heads up". Nice to have an interesting target in mind for when the clouds clear.

A little background information transforms a dimmish and ordinary looking star into a "must see" attraction :smiley:
