Twilight zone !

Recommended Posts

Thinning cloud, twilight, Moon coming and the noisiest drunken garden party from up the road , led to a short interesting session.

Kicked off with Lacerta, The tail end of Cygnus leads to Cepheus and the thin Lacerta. Very much surprised at the quality of NGC 7209, a cluster 2900 lys distant, full of detail on the border of Cygnus. Slightly fainter NGC 7243.

Then back to Cygnus and the "Rocking Horse" of NGC 6910, beautifully detailed. " The Blinking Planetary" NGC 6826 is brilliantly non stellar even in a wide field. Managed the smaller NGC 6905, but not the splendid views that a darker sky gave.

Rukh (δ Cygni) gives a lovely view at x150, just pick out the 2.5" companion in the glare. Very rewarding.

Psi Cygni (2.9"), Mu Cygni (1.9") and Σ2741 (2.0") also provided fine views at x150. As did the similar 16 and 17 Cygni.

Not much contrast available, the frac certainly punched through the poor sky. With Dirty Dancing blaring out and the disco lights , it was time to pack in as a ghostly wreathed waxing Moon appeared,

Old Nick.
