Any one have a clue as to weather one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24V-DC-250W-10-4A-LED-Power-Supply-/291503040011would be ok to run a DC Motor?

My initial thoughts are no, but if anyone has a better answer....................

It's a 24v psu so unless your motors are 24v and draws less than 10a then no and probably not even then.

Yes I know its 24V.....im looking at a garage door opener motor which uses a 24V motor and runs at 5 to 8 Amps. Just asking in general if switch mode psu's are suitable for motors or would it be best to use a linear PSU?

Hi Martin

the current drawn by the motor with be a lot higher when starting than when running at normal speed. Depends on the motor how much but could be 10 - 20 times more.

Just for information, that power supply drives the motor fine.
