A really excellent collection of images, thank you. It's especially nice to see them as I'm not at home and can't look for myself untll I get home around 4.0 - and assuming it's clear of course. Thanks again.

with my setup the powermate I use allows me to put the camera in on a slight angle, trick is to not insert the camera nose all the way in to the powermate then tighten while slightly pushing camera to one side (either side of the locking thumb screw). I struggle getting rid of newton rings with flats

Funny you should say that. Just before reading this I had just tried putting the nose piece of the camera as wonky as I could into the quark just as you have descibed. (Both with 2" adapters not the original 1.25") and the rings have disappeared but the bands were still there but removable with flats :grin:  Great minds and all that :grin:
